Gorge Brook trail is very well broken out despite the new snow that accumulated yesterday. Today was a regular highway with many large groups packing down the snow with snow shoes. You could microspike to the Alpine Zone, but you're going to have a bad time if you need to step even right off trail to let someone pass or pee due to the very high snow table. For that reason I would recommend snow shoes. We ended up hiking up and down the same route rather than opt for the loop over Carriage Road and Snapper Trail due to the lack of people and prints heading over the ridgeline. Views were incredible and we were happy to check off the Western most 4K even in a slightly windy day. |
