 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail needs new blazes! I counted only 4 faded blazes over 8 miles. The only ones I saw weren’t in helpful spots either. At least put a blaze before and after a 90 degree turn. Although there were many trees bent over, it’s hard to tell how many will spring back up. Some popped up with a shake. I didn’t cut anything. |

A long day exploring this area that sees few people in winter. Three of us went to a “new” peak called Gordon Falls Peak, a 2.2 mile round trip bushwhack. Thick in the col, so we swung wide to the north to avoid that area. We did not hang or find any summit jars. After following our tracks back to the trail, I continued solo up to Mt. Wolf. It was a great challenge navigating, but the snow was quite supportive when I had my tail extensions on. I took the extensions off for the return and occasionally would sink very deep. The sun hitting the southern slopes was melting and already refreezing the lumpy track on my return after dark. The section the three of us packed should be smooth anyway. |
