Near perfect conditions today. I bushwhacked up Little Wildcat from the junction with 19 Mile Brook and Carter Dome Trails. This was the most difficult part of the day - several feet of powder to slog up to reach the summit. Woods are wide open. I wanted to take advantage of this day so I continued up the 19 Mile Brook Trail to the hut and had a good conversation with the caretaker, John. Headed up over Carter Dome and Mt. Hight before taking the Carter Dome Trail back to the car. Barebooted the entire hike, though spikes could be helpful in some of the steeper sections. Trail is packed, smooth, and hard. Not a breath of wind of Carter Dome - that was a cool experience. Little Wildcat was #203/207 NE 200 and #427/457 NE3k for me. |
