Comments
Comments: Put on snowshoes shortly after starting up Blueberry Ledge Tr. Stayed in them until back at the road. Trail had some postholes down low but they got deeper and more prevalent as you climbed higher with more snow and less consolidation. Most were off to the side of the trough so pretty easy to avoid. The first ledge (with the overhanging rock) was very easy to ascend as it had a snow ramp going up it. The next element was the big "step" above the ledge. The left side was an ice dome so up the right it was. The two trees there made it "easy" . The rest of the ledges had plenty of snow and only a couple of places where you had to really watch your step. Rollins Tr was well packed. Descending the ledges and steeps was challenging but doable. NOTE- the snow was getting soft and did bunch under the snowshoes giving a bit of a slide to the descent. Conditions will probably continue as written based on the weather tomorrow. You could do this hike in spikes though why you wouldn't want the traction and televators is beyond me. Some might like more aggressive traction if they chose to descend this route.
