Comments
Comments: I found the trails in nice shape since Borealis was up yesterday. One bare booter came through in the opposite direction after him yesterday and churned up the trail in spots but I smoothed it back out with my snowshoes. The trails are all still pretty soft and unconsolidated up high so snowshoes are the best tool. 19MB was a packed superhighway but I still kept my snowshoes on the whole day but spikes could easily be used. It was just easier for me to not switch out and kept the trails in good shape. I saw only a handful of folks out today and most were wearing snowshoes which made my snowshoe loving heart so happy. Lovely to bump into Nicole FINALLY! I saw one hiker who had stayed at the hut and was headed to Moriah. He didn't realize the trail was unbroken from the North Carter junction but was going to give it a shot so that stretch to where Stony Brook joins may be broken out if he was successful. Impressive drifts up high that are taller than me. Being fun sized, pretty much all drifts are taller than me, but I was impressed.
