Comments
Comments: Fun holiday getting Iron Woman out for a rare weekday to make a little more progress on her Winter 48 (just one little* hike left)!

Sawyer River road is cruisable in the weapon of your choice, bareboots are fine. The lower portion of signal ridge was barebootable in the morning (not so much in the afternoon). Snowshoes the clear weapon of choice for the 3 miles of misery to get up top. There are some deep postholes. Some large enough that we looked down for the top of a small human. Snow is still soft and there is a lot of it, can you spike this? Yes. Is it probably a waste of your energy as you slip and slide around at the expense of the trail? Also yes. Will we not find you until spring if you get misplaced or go a few feet off trail to hit the bathroom? Less than 100, Greater than 0 chance. On the way back Tay and I tried the offshoot trail which drops to the valley and pops out at the trailhead kiosk in the lot. The ladies stayed on the road. They (a triathlete and a collegiate all American) beat us (a couple of stupid boys) by 30 seconds, your mileage may vary.

Great day with D, Tay, & Stacy to cap off a stellar long weekend for our extended trail squad.

*Not little, woof.
