Comments
Comments: A glorious, almost windless day in the Presis today. Snowshoes up Ammo to hut, then spikes up to Monroe…some icy patches up at the top, crampons would have given a bit more secure footing. Snowshoes up Crawford Path (mainly for the televators). Washington summit was in the clouds but practically windless, a rare and somewhat eerie event.
Gulfside down to Jewell was very icy, switched to crampons so we wouldn’t slide off into Great Gulf. Jewell above treeline was a bit of a mess, meandering off of Clay through the grumbles and a few spruce traps. It is currently broken out, but not where the trail actually goes…a bit zig-zaggy til you get to the trees. Rest of Jewell fine with either spikes or snowshoes.
