Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking lot is well-plowed, Porto-John was relocated from the far right to near the train sign—it’s now no longer at a 45 degree angle in the snowpack, waiting for a National Lampoons moment
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction, Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings are bridged…wait, well…the big one with the downed tree is *mostly* bridged, if you’re super careful with your snowshoes or wear microspikes, or have a smidge more balance than me lol
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Dicey Mills to the junction is perfection…Rollins and Blueberry ledges have some leaners and a few duck unders, as well as VERY low hanging branches due to the incredible snowpack
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No doggos today, which left me zero distractions when I hit the ledges

Comments
Comments: Fancy dinner on Valentine’s Day or snowshoes door to door on a T-25 trail for another winter 4K? It’s a no brainer! Under the promise of partly sunny skies and moderate temps, we set out to take on Blueberry Ledges to lasso one of the 7 remaining peaks for our Winter 48. Apparently the higher summits didn’t get the memo, as we had snow globe conditions 90% of the day…still gorgeous! Thanks to BOR and a few other folks, the loop was well broken out, and we were happy to put #TeamTubbs to work solidifying the trench. It was our first time up the ledges in winter conditions, and my acrophobia kicked in as we neared THE SPOT, (which was actually easier to navigate with the snowy trench than our last time up in Fall). Three of us switched to spikes/k-10s for this section, the rest stayed in sshoes. Nice to have talent lol. Special shout out to my fellow gridder Tonia and company for their guidance on the sketchiest sections! Snowpack is deep, trail markers are just above the ankle, and the ridgeline was quite drifty. With the new snow coming in, it’s going to be a bit before this is spikes only. In total we encountered 8 pairs of snowshoes on the loop besides us, one pair out and back to Whiteface, and two out and back to Passaconoway. Hooray for snowshoe love! #42/W48
