Fair warning, this is an old man yells at cloud trip report for one purpose: if you are going to use/go in the Lakes of the Clouds Dungeon, have the decency to properly close the effing door when you leave. It’s an emergency shelter. We are lucky it’s not bolted and boarded shut each winter. Took me about 10 minutes to dig, chop, and shovel the doorway out so that the door would close again because someone couldn’t be bothered to close it either yesterday or first thing today, based on the size of the snow drift commandeering the doorway. Another 24 hours left open and it might not close again until spring, which you know, would really suck…especially in an actual emergency. For real, this is why we can’t have nice things, do better.
Snowshoes up to the hut, spikes up to Monroe. We each chose our own traction adventure back to the car. Never planned on Washie but maybe it will get more people to click on my PSA. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk on closing doors and taking care of things.
