A group of us decided to hike the Tripyramids as an unofficial hike via Pine Bend Brook Trail. The friends i went with didnt have the peaks in winter season & i didnt mind this hike in the past. The temperature at sunrise was 5 degrees F. The trail is still in a state where snowshoes are the best traction end to end. The snow is well packed & the trail is a side walk, but the quality of the snow is sand. This creates a situation where without snowshoes it takes extra effort to step in without the flowtation.
The entire day snow fell at times a bit more than lightly. With the warm front i would expect the snow to pack down a bit. I am one who wishes that winter would stay below freezing for the duration of the season, but I imagine this will become less & less common.
Not much else to say, decent hike with good company. |
