 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Since it was still actively snowing this morning on the Kanc we had zero interest in risking having our cars towed so we parked at the Hancock Trailhead. Pleasant stroll down the Kanc. Unpleasant stroll back up at the end of the day. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Black, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Bridged but a few open spots so watch your step. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Plenty of things that need to be sawed. We ducked, we dived, we dipped, we crawled. Patches Ohoulihan would have been proud. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Jackson stayed home. I don’t know if we would have even seen his tail sticking up through the snow. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Nah. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
Donna might have lost her soul up there, but otherwise nada. |

 | Comments: |
Dear sweet baby Jesus, why am I friends with gridiots?! Donna needed it. She bribed me with French toast sticks and quiche. So we went. A story as old as time. As expected, it was a battle. Drifts and snow bombs and route finding and spruce traps and icy chutes covered with fluff on the steeps thanks to the buttsledders and and and. Did we die? No, we did not. I took the bypass to the chimney, Donna took the bypass to the bypass. On the way back we both took the scenic route. Wear your snowshoes. |
