Great morning for this hike, with deep blue sky overhead, no wind, and moderating temperatures. Half way up we could see the incoming cloudiness far in the western sky. We encountered just one other person the whole trip; as we were having lunch atop the tower, a trail runner came up. We followed the narrow but very well packed path up the whole way, with just spikes on our boots. In the low dense woods, there were places where the snow cover was fairly thin. The snow tonight will help, but traffic after that ought to be with snowshoes initially. |
