| Comments: |
It is ironic that there is a little ice at the bottom of Sawyer River Road after which the road is totally open until after the Signal Ridge Trail turnoff.
After the first river crossing there is enough ice to warrant micro spikes but I would take them off once you begin to climb over the first rise. Afterwards, there is minimal ice until about 600 feet in elevation rise up from the beaver pond area. After that the trail and monorail is hard packed all the way to the summit.
I put on a face mask and mittens just below Signal Ridge and the wind was whipping but once across the ridge, Mt. Carrigain shielded me from the winds until the summit. There was a clipper snow of no more than an inch from 3500 feet to the top.
Limited views but a great day out. |
