Last week two wicked cuties broke out the first half of the Belknap Range Traverse, and today 3 wicked cuties broke out the other half. We started from Gunstock Parking Lot and took Maple XC ski trail to Round Pond Trail, which we had broken out last weekend, but needed a little bit more breaking out as snow had drifted. Once we got to Round Pond, we needed to break a new trail through to Mack Ridge Trail (FK! IYKYK) until we hit the snowmobile trail/road. Klem (FK!) was actually broken out down the backside to Round Pond. From Mack, even though others have visited these peaks, we still saw a lot of choppy trail and unconsolidated snow that necessitated our snow shoes being on from door-to-door. We were able to pack down back to Anna, Straightback and down Major. On straight back, we met up with a fellow (the only person we saw all day) who had gone out to North Straightback, West Quarry, and Rand. Thank you for breaking the trail, sir! Another nice little 10 mile loop with two of my faves ❤️
Guessing these mountains got about three more inches of fluffy snow throughout the day. Winter wonderland! |
