Many sections of the trail after Pierce are narrow. I broke my saw clearing the only bad spot but we got it off the trail. |

The path is extremely well packed to Pierce and you only need spikes. But I recommend snowshoes after Pierce although some people were doing it in spikes. The summit cone of Eisenhower has a few sections with some ice but is manageable in either spikes or snowshoes.
