Snowshoes went on at the parking lot and stayed on for the day. Beaver brook xc trails, road walk, gale river trail, twinway up to frost trail in good shape and well broken out. Frost trail is tough,as other hikers have reported. It is broken out to the summit, but the trail is narrow and trees are loaded with snow. Several areas had to crawl through. Definitely wear your shell. It will be snowing on you. We were planning to hike up to South twin also, but twinway was not broken out heading up. We did attempt, but only made it about 100 ft before deciding the two of us did not have enough energy left to make it happen. The snow was very deep. We saw two other hikers, on the way out (both wearing snowshoes) who were planning to summit Galehead only. |
