Comments:
19 Mile Brook Trail was well-packed so we (3 people) used microspikes to Carter Notch Hut. We changed into snowshoes at the hut and climbed the very steep Carter-Moriah trail to Carter Dome. Snowshoes are definitely recommended all along Carter-Moriah Trail. We had great weather w/ very low winds and blue skies. Views of the Presi Range were fantastic, especially from Mt Hight (trail to the summit is broken out). We summited South Carter and then Middle Carter. Past Middle Carter, we followed loosely broken out tracks (I read that 2 guys broke it out yesterday), but since they were on unconsolidated snow, we had to break the trail out further. It was nice to follow the tracks though and avoid route-finding in the deep snow. We descended via North Carter and Imp (south) trails (both trails broken out presumably by the same 2 guys) to Joe Dodge cut-off which brought us to Great Gulf Wilderness TH parking lot. Great hike!p
