My friend and I hiked Mount Israel to catch the sunrise and full moon. We wore snowshoes the entire way. The trail was nicely packed out other than some snow drift areas in the higher elevations. There were a few ice bulges just beyond the Squam Lake viewpoint. No issues hiking up them and with careful footing, it was possible to avoid them on the way down. We managed to reach the peak just as the sun set. It was beautiful! On the descent, we caught glimpses of the full moon between the trees. Overall, a great snowshoe hike in ideal conditions. |
