Great day breaking out the first half of the BRT. Going up Mount Rowe(d) was not bad as someone had laid a nice track there. Beyond Rowe over to Gunstock, there is quite a bit of deep post holing, I think from skiers. We did what we could here. From Gunstock all the way down to Round Pond was completely unbroken snow, sometimes 1 to 2 feet, sometimes as deep as 4 feet. Also did what we could up Belknap. Navigating was a bit of a challenge in the cold. Once we got to Round Pond, the day was getting late and we decided to take Round Pond Trail back to Overlook Trail and walked the cross country ski trails back to Gunstock. In all, a good 10 mile loop. Maybe we’ll get the other half next weekend! 🤣 |
