Comments
Comments: Beautiful day on Moriah, it was only really cold in the morning and trail conditions were overall very good. I wore snowshoes the whole way, but for the first two miles of Stony Brook, they really aren't necessary. From about 2 miles in up until the intersection with Carter-Moriah, I found they were nice to have, especially as the snow got deeper and less packed down. From the intersection with Carter-Moriah to the summit, snowshoes are much more necessary. There are lots of postholes and drifts on an already soft footbed, but I didn't find it to be particularly slow-going. Despite it being a Sunday with great weather for early February, I surprisingly saw nobody the whole day.
