The night before this hike stayed in North Conway. This made the drive time to Sawyer River Road short. The lot is plowed. The hike started at 0730 & the temperature at that time was -8F. This was an official AMC NH Chapter hike. The snow on the trail was sand quality. Anything but snowshoes are not recommended. The snow doesnt harden much until signal ridge, & even then it goes back to sand quality on the way up to the peak. With the cold staying in place for the next 7 days i imagine it wont change much. There was zero wind the entire day which made for excellent views. This was 39/48 in winter for me.
