Comments
Comments: Everything is well broken out but still a bit loose, especially from Gem Pool to the hut. This section also had a lot of butt sliding coming down this afternoon, and it was loose and difficult at times to get footing for the descent. Going up it? Totally fine.

Once above tree line, it’s your usual hardpacked crunchy stuff. Spikes worked best. I saw some using snowshoes up Monroe, but I’d definitely not have wanted to do that. Crampons are overkill; spikes have plenty of bite.

Great but cold day up there. No wind at the hut, but it was blowing a good bit on Monroe.
