Avalon was in pretty good shape after the storm! Well packed, I even saw prints of someone who was bare booting it for a bit- I wouldn’t recommend though as it’s still pretty loose. Once I broke off onto the AZ trail it was much less broken out, looks like one other person was out before me in snowshoes which was helpful. There’s still a solid base for a trail to follow but there’s a lot of new, loose snow. It made it hard to get footing, particularly on the descent- you need snowshoes. The tom spur had not been broken out and was even messier but manageable. The only part I truly completely broke trail on was the very top heading to the summit- significant drifting got me a little lost so apologies if anyone follows my footprints to a thankfully small tree well! Lol. Thankfully the summit is small and it was brief. All in all trail was in good shape for post snow storm! Will be smooth sailing once a few more people come through. |
