Comments
Comments: Walked up Cog Railway a short way and bushwhacked to the left (North) to Jewel Trail, no problem. Used Microspikes on monorail before treeline not too long a section, could have barebooted. Then clear, dry. Gaiters not needed, but we each wore one on our windward leg. Overcast at summit, but good views. On descent we opted to try Cog Railway. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Not really. There is about a mile section in the middle which has no trail, it is rubble with deep snow patches. Tedious and unpleasant. Now we know why it is seldom used as alternative to Jewel Trail.
