The trail today was a mixed bag from dry trail at the bottom to ice covered rock. I put on my microspikes just before hitting Lonesome Lake hut and wore them most of the rest of the day. My hiking companion wore bare boots until the descent from North Kinsman. Wearing the microspike though meant I wore them across rocks too because the conditions would vary in 50 yards. Monorail mostly stable but disappearing fast. We did both use bare boots between North Kinsman and South Kinsman- more snow then ice. Temp was perfect and view incredible. |
