Snow overnight which made conditions slightly different from yesterday's report. An inch or three on the way in to the loop junction. As we climbed the main peak in snowshoes some minor backsliding as snow depths increased. Limited winter views on top. Temperatures much cooler on the ridge.
I would say 6" new snow on the ridge however hard to say since there was some drifting. Except for the drifted areas the trail was in good shape. Lots of loose snow going down south followed by comfortable walk out.
Spikes to the dip before Hancock uphill, then snowshoes up, across ridge, down and back to parking. Snowsho Televators very helpful going up, also very helpful in the drifts on the ridge, saw a couple barebooting on drifted portion on ridge, looked like hard work. |
