Parked at the gate on Nash Stream Rd, just past Amos Emery Rd. It was plowed out by a grader but I definitely got the vibe it wasn't done for hikers. The rd is plowed for logging trucks, several of which passed me on my way back to the car on day 2 but none on day 1. 8 miles with microspikes on a plowed rd to the base of Sugarloaf. Snowmobiles could be heard (and smelled) most of the way. A snowmobiler had ridden most of the way up Sugarloaf within the last week so the going wasn't too difficult, but snowshoes are still a must. Good view from the top. |
