We opted for snowshoes even though the lower section was boney. Light snow over ice most of the way to North Piper. In a couple of areas there was yellow ice but those were in flat areas so not a problem. Spikes might be okay but probably like walking in sand, so we recommend snowshoes. We broke out the section from the White Face intersection over to the Vista. A cold start to the day but it gradually warmed up and the sun finally came out with a beautiful blue sky. Met one other hiker also using snowshoes. Overall a nice little outing this morning. |
