Comments
Comments: Inspired by the many trail reports on the Presis the last few days I had to try it. Above treeline all trails were dry and the occasional snow fields had firm footing, thanks to the cooler temps today, no postholing anywhere. The Ammo had quite a lot of ice but I managed with the microspikes, though I had my sixpointers in the pack. Jewell trail had some interesting sections higher up where people postholed so much that there is no real monorail established and one has to step into deeper holes quite often to stay upright. At least the deep pockets were solid today and with colder weather coming icy postholes will require more time on this trail. Today was an ideal day up high, little wind, sun, and overall good trail conditions.
