 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
2nd and 3rd car at the depot. Winged out nicely. DOT was out early last night. Also, why do people think this is the back bay and have to park 2" from your bumper? |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Crawford Brook is solidly bridged |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I brought my saw because there where a few blowdowns last week but they have been addressed. There is 3-4 feet of snow at elevation so I left them because they in theory are at the top end of the maintained corridor. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Several doggoes out today. I did see a snowshoe hare on the way to Tom about 10 feet off trail. They have cool eyes. |

A FINE day in the forest was had. It's been a week since I did these so I decided to do them again. As last week, we donned snowshoes at the depot and they stayed on the entire way. Trails are nicely tracked out but still soft so the snowshoes are a help. Plus, why wait when you can televate? There is still a LOT of snow on the trees that a windy day will send that flying. A trio was out in front of us in full crampons to Field. We traded with the snowshoe hares of laying fresh tracks over to Willey, a few inches of fresh powder. Of note, the trail is broken a bit wonky from last week, there are several routes that where clearly used yesterday but I went the actual trail and made my own road. Great views over at the overlook on Willey. Of note, no recent traffic from the ladders as of 1030am. Last week it was tracked but soft. No one went that way yesterday. Upon returning to Field we where met by hiking royalty! All you can see where her unmistakable Game of Thrones whitewalker-esque piercing blue eyes -the one and only TWINKLE TOES! woop woop! She was moving so well there where flames coming from her buff! Ran into several other familiar faces while mildlly disassociating from Field to Tom spur, a trip that was fifteen minutes, absolutely blazing fast. Much of the same can be said for Tom. Several families on their way up to Tom with kids fueled by gummy bears. A fine day to be out - silence and solitude only a fresh snowfall can bring |
