Comments
Comments: Kind of a last minute plan to fashion a loop over Bald and Goodhue instead of doing an out-and-back to the latter.

Last night's deep freeze has made everything fairly solid. Sun-exposed areas were more bare ground than snow and shaded spots were the opposite, but snow depths were never more than a few inches. Hillsounds were fine round trip. The upper ledges on Bald are bare.

After descending Bald, I followed Tudor Trail out to Pine Point for the great view of the mountain. From there, I bushwhacked around the NE end of Willard Pond to an area of woods/logging roads shown on Gaia. Easy bushwhacking conditions and lots of moose sign. At the end of a spur road that Gaia calls Knights Rd., I followed an obvious trail toward Goodhue Hill. At first I didn't notice any markings but soon began to see old orange-painted can lids for blazes. Not sure if this is bootleg or was part of Goodhue Hill Trail at one point. This led me right up to the high point and view ledge.

From there it was down Goodhue Hill Trail, which now crosses two new skids roads from the recent timber harvests. A short bushwhack to the upper logging cut reveals a super view back to Bald Mtn.

(For peakbaggers: The Bald high point has a register again after years of just having the bracket. The Goodhue high point has a bracket but no register. Both high points are mere feet from the respective trails.)
