Beautiful conditions for the Hancocks with a fresh inch or two of snow. Great snow coverage even at the start. I started with spikes and then put on snowshoes at the North/South junction. Televators made climbing up North much easier. The snow across the ridge had a lot of drifting and was unconsolidated so I kept the snowshoes on. Coming down South it is becoming a luge track. It was hard to stay on my feet so there was a lot of controlled butt sliding. On the walk out, the warm temperatures caused snow clumping under my snowshoes, so I barebooted the last 2 miles. |
