Topped out on Polecat ski trail before lift operations started… ALL these trails are in great shape now until Imp trail.. the snow is still unconsolidated and snowshoes are the best option.. ascending Carter Dome from the south wasn’t terrible.. no ice was encountered and the footing was firm.. loose across both ridges.. descending N Carter trail was ok until just below the intersection with Imp.. here there are some large, across-the-trail ice flows… it’s not steep but caution is advised.. the lower section of Imp is quite bony.. does snow not fall on this neglected section??? We switched into Hillsounds for the remainder of the hike |
