Skinned up the ski trail before opening today. Saw sunrise from the mountain, and it was beautiful. Two others skinning as well. After summiting Wildcat D, I swapped to snowshoes and saw two men who I saw again on Wildcat A. The ridge was decently packed from snowshoe use, but barebooting and spikes would chew up the loose snow and you would likely posthole. Lots of snowshoe hare tracks - maybe something larger like bobcat? A few steep spots along the ridge, but manageable with snowshoes. Snowshoed back along the ridge again to Wildcat D and skiied down! Was down in 5 minutes!! |
