The 2.2 mile walk up Dead Diamond Road is entirely covered in a thick layer of ice. Would be a good fat bike ride w/ studded tires right now. Spikes worked well for me but not sure how the cabin visitors are driving out without chains. Met the friendly caretaker on my way in and chatted for quite awhile.
Trails had all seen foot traffic, but the snow was softening so I wore snowshoes on the non road parts. The sheer cliffs of Diamond Peaks are impressive! My tracker recorded a couple tenths more than the WMG says (1.3 instead of 1.1 for the actual trail).
I did the Magalloway River Trails afterwards. |
