After a fun morning at Pats Peak, time to get away from the crowds. Most people were on microspikes. I opted for snowshoes as I am much faster on them and don't have footing issues with them. Some scouting around the bony sections but overall quick ascent. Near the outlook, full crampons would only be slight overkill - the ice there has big consequences if your spikes aren't sharp. My Tubbs snowshoes are very aggressive - no trouble climbing up all the ice. Distant views and Lake Solitude very solid - I walked across only 1 end. Super nice out. |
