Comments
Comments: Needed to clear our heads so headed up to the biggest “little” mountain in NH via Dublin Trail. We were prepared to break trail with snowshoes, but it was readily apparent the ice storm had killed most of the snowpack, which made K-10s the right tool for the job. I wore mine door to door, but hubby rocked his Hillsounds until we hit tree line, then switched to K-10s to the summit and back to about 1 mile to the trailhead. Trail is thick ice hidden under a few inches of fresh powder. The increasing temps were a huge help, which allowed us to “press” the powder in and create a sweet trail! The winds were every bit as fierce as predicted, and we stumbled up the summit cone, pelted with rime
Ice. I only found one cairn that wasn’t buried, so make sure you know where you’re going. The nooks and crannies are filled in nicely all the way to the summit, which made for quick travel. On our way down the temps had hit a point where snowballs were forming under our K-10s, but we managed to beat the incoming rain by an hour! Be prepared for sloppy trails below treeline tomorrow!
