 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The new trailhead and parking, off NH 116 on private land, are about 0.2 mi. north of the former parking. The former parking is closed and will be physically barricaded soon. The new lot (plowed in winter) requires a fee -- $10 for in-state or $20 for out-of-state, payable via cash or Venmo. Parking is first come, first served and limited to 15 spaces with no overflow. Have a backup plan in mind if the lot is full. Parking along NH 116 is not allowed per NHDOT, the local police departments, and the private landowners. |

Foot traffic on these trails today was a mix of snowshoes, bare boots, and spikes. With a few inches of new snow on the ground, I went with snowshoes round-trip. More snowshoe love is needed to help set up a good track. Warming temps caused snow to ball up under the 'shoes on the way down.
Low cloud cover obscured the views today but the forest was beautiful with the new snow. Good to chat with several friendly hikers long the way. |
