Snowshoes all the way today. Followed a set of snowshoe and two bareboot/spike tracks up. The trail was really choppy so I was glad to have the snowshoes and tried to really smooth it out and pack it down. It was warm today and the snow started sticking and balling a bit, which was okay because it means it's getting more consolidated at least. No views, high winds and a very icy slab on the final rock push right before the sign. It was mildly sketchy, one of those "just keep moving" moments and I've been up this mountain more in winter than summer. But a little muscle and it's fine, really. On the way down I continued to smooth out the trail as best as I could, as I believe I was the last one down today and the trail was once again wildly choppy. |
