Comments
Comments: There is a very firm snow surface. Snowshoes can be used if you so choose. Microspikes were what most hikers wore. If one steps off the hard packed path, then expect to posthole. The short ascent to Mt Pierce on the Webster Cliff Trail has some spots of loose thin snow cover on a base of ice. Light traction is sufficient on this stretch. No major drifts on the Crawford Path as the trail emerged from the trees.
The Webster Cliff Trail was broken out off the summit towards Mizpah Hut. Also, the Crawford Path was broken out towards Mt Eisenhower.
Great views of the Presidential Range from the open areas on Mt Pierce. Yellow ice at Gibbs Falls.
Many other hikers on the trail. Nice to talk with Nick and Ashley on the descent.
