Comments
Comments: The word of the day is good traction. Okay, that's two words.

Much of the mountain is iced over and that ice is covered by the somewhat loose snow that fell last night. Sharp Hillsounds worked well for me today. I saw several people with either yak trax or no traction at all, and they were really struggling up and down the steep icy pitches, putting themselves in a dangerous situation. I saw one hiker in K-10s, which was not overkill. Lots of rocks and open ledge mixed in with the snow and ice.

Down low, the main trails were packed pretty well with some small windswept drifts in places. Parker Trail hadn't seen much travel. Snow depths were minimal so snowshoes would have been cumbersome there.

Windy and chilly on the way up White Arrow but once I switched over to the other side of the mountain things were more comfortable.
