Very nice day hike. Started at 10AM on the Liberty Trail. The trail had a lot of running water on it from snow melts and a lot of mud as well. The shady spots contained a lot of ice mainly in stretches along the middle of the trail. We had to watch our step a lot and traverse the patches of ice with caution since they were very slippery with the snow melt water running over them. We had no traction gear and I do not think any would be needed especially if the weather keeps up like this. At this rate the snow will be gone by next week. Besides the ice the Liberty trail made for a very nice hike. We still made it up in just over two hours and back down in about 2 hours. I would totally recommend it now as this is a very popular spot and the crowds will increase as we get into the spring and summer months. |
