 | Water Crossing Notes: |
There was a handful of water crossings on the 0.7 of Bald Land that was beyond Jackson XC. We handled them on skis, so wouldn't be bad in snowshoes. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Bald Land Trail was mostly good, however the view spur has two huge blowdowns that are covering the entire trail. One is an easy under, but the first one is not under or over.
Further down, close to the fireroad side, there appears to be some drainage issues as we had to take off the skis and walk a handful of times. Couldn't fully tell as there was snow on the ground though. Not blazed but trail was clear!
Eagle Mtn is in good shape. |

 | Comments: |
Was skiing bald land the best choice? No, but it was more fun than the alternative of snowshoes.. which I don't think is allowed on the ski trails during the winter season but I didn't look into it as i was determined to tour it. Great tour up until the 0.7 miles down to the fire road, but even that was doable in survival skiing and required taking the skis off twice to avoid big water pits.
Eagle mountain was great, however traction is 100% necessary on the upper sections, it was very icy.
