 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
This is the questionable part. I parked at the gate, sort of half in the snowbank so I didn’t entirely block the road, but it is not really a good parking spot if you don’t want to risk a ticket I’ve been told. |

Dreamy conditions! The freshly groomed snowmobile trail starts at a junction just uphill from the gate. I won’t say exactly where I started the bushwhack, but there is a good base in the woods to cover the junk, and I wasn’t sinking too deep through somewhat of a crust with a fresh inch or two on top. The breaking got tougher as I got higher, a lot of sidehilling and I’d occasionally sink down in a hollow spot, since I was floating over all the riffraff. Moose tracks galore on the East peak. I visited both peaks (because of the deception I guess) and spent a good 20 or 30 minutes searching for the tiny white canister that had been remounted since my last visit, on a tree with snowy branches so it really blends in. My descent was 3x the speed of my ascent up, following my tracks the easy 2 miles back to the road. I saw 2 snowmobilers on the way out on the 2 mile road walk. It was about 8 miles, 2,200 feet and 5.5 hours for the trip. |
