the summer of 2012 continues..wow.. in the morning Crawford fairly stable and spikes were adequate to the junction. Above there trail much less consolidated with a moderate monorail which sufficed with careful foot placement.
We put on snowshoes in the heavily drifted area just below Webster Cliff Jct and had them on and off a few times over to Eisenhower. Lots of bare rock but all the sections in the treed areas were fairly unstable postholed monorail. Snowshoes needed!! Once on the cone it was bare rock..no ice..and smooth sailing. 60 degrees with 15mph winds today..lingered and enjoyed the somewhat hazy views today. It was enough work going through the soft snow that we ditched Monroe plans and made an easy day of it. Snow had softened as the day went on.. Crawford Path below Pierce was a really nice snowshoe track this afternoon with a little slide to it..Excellent first day of spring out with Valerie |
