Comments
Comments: Tough day breaking out the bonds from the Lincoln Woods trailhead. Lincoln Woods trail has seen quite bit a traffic especially on the way back. Can barebooted though snowshoes might towards the end. Bondcliff trail hasn't seen any traffic since before Christmas Eve so it was completely unbroken from the previous days snowfalls. Only about 4-6 inches down low with many bony sections with logs and rocks just beneath the snow. The last mile to Bondcliff was around a foot of fresh snow with 2 to 4 foot drifts which were a challenge to break out. The rocky step just before Bondcliff was Icy and tricky to get up and back down. Crampons and an ice axe would have been helpful but I managed with snowshoes. Going over Bondcliff was rock and ice and a few small snowdrifts. Barebooted across the section as there was far more rock than snow. Put the snowshoes back on for the climb up to Mt Bond. More big drifts going up Mt Bond until I was back in the trees then it was about a foot+ in fresh snow. Mt Bond to West Bond was more 2 to 4 foot snowdrifts and the snows deep enough your walking in the tree canopy. The hike back was uneventful (except getting down the rocky step). Just a long slog out. I was solo so only my set of tracks in each direction.
