We parked at the junction of Fowlers Mill Road and Paugus Lane, where there was plenty of plowed space for maybe three cars. At the end of plowing on Paugus Lane was a "No parking please" sign. |

 | Comments: |
Had these trails to ourselves today. 4-6" new snow, frequently hiding thick ice underneath. I wore snowshoes all day; my trail mates wore theirs most of the way until it got too bony at the bottom of Liberty Trail.
Fresh moose tracks on Brook Trail near where it meets Bee Line. It was steep, it was sometimes sketchy. Crampons would not have been overkill. (Was wishing I'd brought my whippet.) Views!! None of us felt the need to summit Chocorua, so we continued down Liberty Trail checking out Jim Liberty Cabin and the unmarked 'unreliable water source spur.'
Bottom road section had been groomed while we were on the mountain. Beauty of a day up there! |
