Trail is bony - no snowshoes needed all the way to the summit. Spikes for sure - some super hard ice, some softer ice, and some bare trail. I hated to wear my new spikes, but the old rock ones would not have done the job. Carter-Moriah over Mt. Surprise has sketchy icy ledges, and the last push to the summit was sub-arctic. Until it snows more, the snowshoes can stay in the car. I might prefer to come over Stony Brook instead. |
