The parking lot at the Trailhead is marked as closed though there were several cars parked there. This road does have some large potholes. There is a sign on Star King Road that indicates you should park across the street from Star King Road in front of several large boulders. I saw no cars there. A number of cars parked at the general store/gas station at the far right parking area past the main store parking. |

We parked across the street at the store/gas station and walked 1/2 mile to the trailhead. We started in spikes and went to snowshoes about.07 miles from the Star King summit due to large drifts. Kept the snowshoes on the rest of the hike. The trail started with a dusting of snow and increased to 8 - 10 inches on drifts. Because the trail is hard packed underneath, the trail was fairly easy to navigate even with the new fluffy snow on top.
