Trail was well packed but still bony down low. I didn’t use my snowshoes, but maybe could have, and just stepped around the rocks. I decided to test out my 3/4” trail crampons instead of microspikes because with the warm temps (35) I was worried about balling and the crampons with the plastic plates worked well though they’re not as comfortable. It took me 2.5 hours round trip, not much of a view today, I was just going for the check off the grid. I passed 2 teenagers twice and asked them if they had headlamps because they were near the summit with only an hour of daylight left. They had ice axes and mountaineering boots but no traction, no jackets, no packs. I asked them if they had fully charged phones at least and decided not to offer them one of my 3 headlamps. |
